i’m glad i brought my ipad & apple pen with me on the ferry ride from victoria to seattle. i love to draw while i’m flying, or in this case, floating along. this is just days after discovering the LoD fandom and i’m inspired to try my hand at fan art!
here’s Shana from the first scene of the game, unconscious on a wooden plank, resonating with mysterious gems wielded by a commander of imperial sandora.
i quite like the blue colours that accent her white fabrics, aligning well with her element, light. her hair reminds me of a warm brunette with highlights and tied carelessly. actually, it really reminds me of princess garnet from final fantasy ix!
i’m not sure how she survived hellena prison without a scratch. in my headcanon, it’s very likely that she was harmed, even though she looks untouched. i know, it sounds scary, but it’s called hellena prison . . . i think some crazy things happened there that could really affect the story!

does Shana need anyone’s permission to wear a sexier gown than what she was offered in the Tiberoan capital of Fletz? her character is sweet & innocent, but i feel like that needs to change as she develops throughout the game. but, being overcome by ancient power and prophecy shouldn’t preclude one from being cute, either.
here’s my first attempt & remix at drawing Shana’s gown from the ball held at Fletz castle with the Tiberoan princesses, Lisa & Emille. i’ll try drawing the princesses one day because i am inspired by the official concept art for them! and, i’d like to remix their dresses, too, as part of the gowns of endiness collection. i’m really excited for this :3
the decision to convert the blue waist accessories to a corset was an attempt to retain the style of her fighting outfit, minus the leather mantle over her shoulders. i’d like to try this design again featuring her gold belt with that faux fleur de lis design. how did she get such an adorable outfit at hellena prison again? i’m curious! and how would that explanation work with the story that i’ve got in my head?

first off, cheers to my dedication to developing my own style because i drew quite a few pieces in one night and each one was significantly better! i’m proud of past bemusea for practising without knowing what would come of it. this attempt at drawing Shana’s Tiberoan gown was really gratifying because i captured the right textures & colours that i imagined.
she’s wearing this choker or collar and a gold necklace, which i imagined was connected to her dress. she has dark blue accents that punctuate the perfect white fabric of her gown.
it’s cute how in the game, when Shana is dressed up, her hair is also in an updo. i’ve made her hair on the cooler side of brunette, but still quite light. her skin is a bit pale, but i would imagine a fighter would be more tanned from constant exposure to the sun.
her dress doesn’t quite make sense to me — the two layers of her gown make her seem like she’s floating, which doesn’t look quite right. and, the dark blue sash around her hips terminate abruptly and should have some sort of fastener or bow and extend the length of the entire gown. but, i’m very happy with this attempt, even though the gown still isn’t perfect.

i’ve been mulling over an idea in my head for the last week or so. as part of the gowns of endiness collection, here’s the beautiful Shana dressed in the lily of the valley of corrupted gravity gown. i look forward to redrawing this concept a few more times before i see the floral theme really come to life!
i wanted to emphasize her light elemental properties by having a bright internal light like that which resonated with dragoon spirits in Lohan, as well as an aura of light emanating around her, like what happened at the Limestone cave. the dark background looks like a bruise, which somehow reminds me of the Valley of Corrupted Gravity, must have been some of the atmospheric lighting effects that i love so much about the game.
i’m really happy with her hair! i’m expanding on the updo from her Tiberoan gown and making it a little wavier & wilder. again, Shana has the volition to dress as she pleases, bare shoulders and some enlightened cleavage are allowed. but, yes, she would still get cold and good thing Dart embodies a warm, fiery elemental.
wow, good job bemusea! spending a little bit of time drawing as often as i can over the last year or two has proved to be a great breakthrough for my creative process and style. and now, blogging has allowed me to collect and analyze and reflect and keep growing!
how delightful c:
