reimagined: tiberoan princesses of the stars

i have been waiting all my life to draw these two beauties! it was exciting as a young girl to reach disc 2 in legend of dragoon when the party enters the country of Tiberoa starting with a scene in the city of Fletz, where King Zior and princesses of the star and sun, respectively: Lisa & Emille. in the game, their sprites have pale skin and bright dresses, but i stand by my apple pen as i’ve drawn them with darker skin to suit my perception of the Tiberoan climate and the beauty standard of the time. i’ve also altered their dresses for the heat and adorned them in delicate gold jewelry, which is actually more reflective of my own culture. enjoy a tiny version of the original concept art in the the top left quadrant of the digital painting.

Lisa, princess of the stars, is known to practice divination in the form of astronomy. the younger of the two princesses, she’s a lover of florals and a certain botanist in the city. the petals on her dress are also an homage to the flower city of Donau, on the northern Tiberoan coast. she wears her hair high up in a ponytail that she splits in two and drapes over her shoulders. her nose ring is fashioned after a small star as she’s the younger of the two star princesses.

Emille, princess of the sun, is the heir to the throne and is to receive her nation’s royal heirloom, the moon dagger, at her coming of age gala on her 20th birthday. in lieu of her headband, i’ve elected to adorn her hair with more fine gold jewelry, especially a network of filigree chained to her earring & hair ornaments. her gown resembles the style of dress from india, somewhere between a saree and a lahenga, of course, with more gold jewelry accenting her top and torso. her nose ring is a large studded hoop representing the larger star, the sun. on the topic of her more intimate interests, she does develop a passion for King Albert; however, i have more to say on this issue when i present an earlier tarot card: the lovers

lastly, as part of the LoD tarot project, i hereby dub Princesses Lisa & Emille as the the star and the sun, respectively.

the wandering star & the sovereign sun
